DESCRIPTION:
In the thesis the channel equalization problem is approached as a pattern recognition task. It is shown that state transitions in a trellis state diagram can be predicted by looking at the observation clusters. This idea leads to a methodology that bypasses the need for the channel estimation and provides a unified tool for linear as well as non-linear channels.
