EUROMEDPERSON IN CHARGE: Theodoridis SergiosFUNDED BY: European Union START DATE: 01/01/1995 END DATE: 31/12/1998 DESCRIPTION: The aim of the project is Telemedicine via the Internet. The contribution of our group is focused on the Image Processing and Medical Image Compression work packages. In the framework of DICOM standard, wavelet based compression schemes have been considered and tested. A particular emphasis is put on issues like progressive transmission, regions of Interest, lossy and lossless encoding and non-uniform code prediction in the phase of image reconstruction.
