PANDA (Patterns for Next-generation Database Systems)

PERSON IN CHARGE: Theodoridis Sergios
FUNDED BY: E.U.-IST
START DATE: 01/01/2002
END DATE: 31/12/2004
DESCRIPTION:
Today’s (and tomorrow’s) Database Management Systems (DBMSs) possess a number of key features such as huge volume of data (e.g., images, time series), diversity and complexity. Data processing methods (e.g., pattern recognition, data mining) result in knowledge artifacts (i.e., clusters, rules) that need as well to be managed by a DBMS-like environment. The goal of PANDA project is to bring together groups with expertise on data processing and DBMS to study various issues that must be addressed by a PBMS (Pattern based management systems).
